Dorothy NS Mukasa
After 30 years of working in the statutory sector, I can now finally pursue my long held ambitions, to grow a forest and to write. Contributing to Acting on AIDS â Sex Drugs and Politics, (published by Serpentâs Tail in 1997), piqued my interest in writing and documenting important moments in life. I persuaded my parents, then in their late 80s, to write their autobiographies, which after much facilitation, I published both in 2020. Having grown up in Uganda, I settled in the UK soon after attending Gayaza High School in Uganda and went on to achieve an MSc in Public Policy from Queen Mary London and a Masters in Medical Ethics and Law from Kingâs College London. My expertise is in the areas of policy implementation, strategic planning and commissioning public services. I have worked mainly in the National Health Service in the areas of mental health and learning disabilities. My voluntary sector involvement has resulted in the founding of four British charities, of which I am very proud. I have lived in Harrow, North West London since 1993.
Akin to raising a child, my tree project has proved a slow involving process. The young trees are coming along very nicely in Uganda, thank you for asking. However, growing a forest is a book for another day
