Elizabeth Meinhard

After qualifying as a doctor, the author taught physiology to medical students and worked as a casualty officer in a busy accident-and-emergency department before becoming a pathologist at the Hammersmith Hospital. She left London with her husband and two young children and took over a country practice, where she worked as a family doctor for twenty years.
