Born in Cambridge. My family moved to Beccles on the Suffolk/Norfolk border in the early 1950's. I was one of the first 500 at the new University of Kent at Canterbury (UKC) . Following my graduation I worked as a social worker in London. I then spent a year or so working in Slough before returning to Beccles to work in the family business, which I later ran after my Father's retirement.
My Father was a Great Yarmouth man and I was always fascinated by his early memories of the town in the 1920's. I published various articles in a Suffolk magazine in the 1970's, in part using my Father's recollections, and always had an interest in the history and people of East Anglia - the essence of which I always define as Norfolk and Suffolk
