Jan Paine

After 40 years working in education, I retired in 2017 with a plan to see as much of the world as possible, with my husband Greg, on our 50 foot Northwind sailing yacht Viridian. We bought her in 2015 after chartering yachts for the last 30 years, all the time refining what features we liked most, so that we would make the right decision when we purchased our own boat. Viridian is an older but very well made centre cockpit boat; she feels very safe on long passages and in bad weather, so I wasn't too worried about crossing the Atlantic on her. I have always loved cooking and entertaining so this first book combines that with our adventures. Some parts of the book will probably be most useful to people crossing an ocean, but other sections hopefully are interesting for anyone living aboard or thinking about doing so. We are currently in the Caribbean, planning to head to Central America next year, then maybe into the Pacific. I am also writing my second book.
