I held a celebration party for over eighty family and friends at Hollywood Golf Club to coincide with the publication of my book on 18th March. It proved to be a great success, allowing me to sign and sell almost half of the 100 books I had received in one evening. Family members then kindly advertised the book on their respective Facebook pages adding links to Troubador and Amazon (E book) and word spread rapidly. I received further requests for signed copies from Ireland and Australia as well as the UK. To date I have sold or reserved for sale all bar 2 copies out of a total original print run of 200. I sent messages to former work colleagues and school contacts. My daughter designed a postcard and these have been distributed by family members to their own friends and customers.
A local farm shop, with a high footfall, has accepted my books as a local author and I am planning a signing session in the near future.
The Oxford Mail (23rd August) has published an article titled "Fan's book on following the U's after emigrating", accompanied by a photograph of myself holding my book outside the Kassam Stadium, on the basis that I am a season ticket holder who has penned his debut book a the age of 74. The half page article goes on to summarise the salient points of the book, namely the journey arising from my parents decision to emigrate from Ireland in 1958 including a family history and sad and happy events that occurred up to the current day. over 120 likes were recorded on face book entries.
I have more recently received further 5- star rated reviews (see Book Reviews). The most notable being one from Mikie Carthy, a now retired professional journalist with the former Wexford Echo Newspaper whose opening line is "Peter Carton is a wonderful story teller". Hopefully, readers will agree.
